At Mesa Health & Aesthetics, we offer professional chemical peels to help improve the overall appearance of your skin. Chemical peels are a minimally invasive skin care procedure that removes damaged layers of skin and helps promote new cell growth. Dr. Mesa can customize the strength and type of peel to best suit your needs and goals.
Chemical peels provide many benefits for individuals with various skin concerns such as wrinkles, uneven texture or tone, acne scars, sun damage, age spots, rosacea, melasma and other types of hyperpigmentation. After a consultation with Dr. Mesa you may benefit from a chemical peel if you have the following: mild wrinkles around eyes; dryness and flakiness of the skin; dark spots or hyperpigmentation; acne and acne scarring; uneven tone/texture.
At Mesa Health & Aesthetics we offer a range of different chemical peels that are tailored to your individual skin type and needs. Dr. Mesa will help you decide which peel is best for you based on your goals, skin type, medical history and lifestyle.
Chemical peels typically take about 15 minutes to complete, depending on the area being treated and depth of the peel. During treatment an acid solution is applied directly onto the areas of concern. Depending on how deeply you want the peel to penetrate into the skin layers, this may be left on for several minutes before being neutralized with water or a special solution.
The intensity of the peel will vary depending on your individual needs and goals, as well as the type of acid used. Commonly used acids for chemical peels include glycolic acid, lactic acid, salicylic acid, citric acid, mandelic acid and trichloroacetic (TCA) acid. Our team at Mesa Health & Aesthetics can easily determine which of these options is best suited to you in order to achieve optimal results.
Immediately following treatment you may experience some redness and mild discomfort, this should subside within a few days with proper care after each peel session. It’s recommended that you avoid sun exposure for at least two weeks following a chemical peel, as this can increase your chances of developing post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.
